DOE Application to Export LNG to FTA Countries

 

Irvine, CA April 18, 2014 – Alturas LLC (Alturas), a subsidiary of WesPac Midstream LLC (WesPac), has submitted an application to the Office of Fossil Energy of the Department of Energy (DOE) to export up to 1.5 million tons per year (approximately 73 BCF per year) of LNG from WesPac’s proposed LNG project situated near Port Arthur, Texas for a period of 20 years (Port Arthur LNG).  Alturas has requested authorization to export to any country that has, or in the future will have, the capacity to import LNG via ocean-going carrier (by use of ocean-going LNG bulk carriers or approved ISO IM07/TVAC-ASME LNG containers), and with which the United States currently has, or in the future will have, a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) requiring the national treatment for trade in natural gas and LNG.
